Cushing & Henderson was selected to prepare a Landscape Architecture Master Plan to enhance the esthetic, educational and functional aspects of the Governor’s Residence grounds. With private funding, the design focused on four gardens: the Jane Shaffer Rose Garden, Penn’s Woods, the West Lawn, and the Susquehanna Garden. The hardscape elements included garden walls, pavilions and walks with materials to reflect the residence, and unique plant schemes to express the individual garden themes.
